A Second Chance for Puppy Toby
It turns out, happily, that Toby has a brother rescued from the same pueblo. Toby’s brother, Ruffy, is a lot bigger because he has been nourished for the last month at The Sanctuary. Toby is malnourished but he will be able to make up for lost time with nutritious food. It is so sweet to watch Toby and Ruffy lick each other, lie around together and love each other – as shown in this picture (Scroll down to the bottom of the page for a full gallery of awesome pictures).
March 9, 2017: Toby had his first bandage change today and he will have another bandage change in one week. Each time the vet’s check on his broken leg to make sure the bandage is sufficient. Here is Toby back at the Sanctuary with Natalie, our director, after his visit to the vet in Santa Fe: much happier and with a new spring color on his splint. March 7, 2017: Toby is a beautiful four-month old puppy abandoned and rescued in Northern New Mexico. About four months old, he was brought to The Heart & Soul Animal Sanctuary, where we are doing everything possible to bring him back to good health. He was extremely thin, covered with ticks and fleas, anemic and (most importantly) suffering from a badly broken front left leg – as shown by these pictures.
Toby’s surgery for his broken leg was performed by a board certified orthopedic surgeon on March 3rd, 2017 in Albuquerque, NM, at the Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center. Now Toby is in a very large splint by necessity, which restrains movement and will need to be changed often, for at least six weeks. However, he is comfortable and eating well, and is under constant observation.
We desperately need your help and financial aid to provide this wonderful puppy the happy and healthy life he so deserves. All donations, large and small, are tax deductible. With your kind help, Toby will have another chance to become a healthy and happy dog.
Thank you very very much!
